PeopleSoft P2P Implementation

Led enterprise implementation initiatives associated with Goldman Sachs’ PeopleSoft Procure-to-Pay modernization efforts, supporting the transformation and standardization of purchasing operations across globally distributed business units.

The initiative involved replacing fragmented purchasing practices and inconsistent operational workflows with standardized enterprise purchasing processes integrated through the PeopleSoft Purchasing platform.

Responsibilities included stakeholder coordination, operational workflow analysis, implementation execution, governance alignment, cross-functional collaboration, and systems integration activities spanning Purchasing, Accounting, Asset Management, Accounts Payable, Tax, and Technology organizations.

The implementation established foundational operational structures that later enabled broader automation, reporting, accounting governance, and enterprise project costing initiatives.

PeopleSoft Purchasing Accounting / Tax Handling Pre-processor Design & Implementation

Following the decentralization of purchasing operations through the rollout of the Ariba web requisitioning platform, I identified a significant operational risk associated with inconsistent accounting classifications and downstream Accounts Payable processing.

Recognizing that manual intervention and exception reporting would not scale effectively across enterprise purchasing operations, I independently conceived and proposed an automated accounting and tax handling framework integrated directly into the PeopleSoft Purchasing workflow.

Working with Accounting leadership and Technology resources, I defined operational accounting rules, authored detailed business requirements documentation, developed process logic workflows, and coordinated implementation of a bolt-on enhancement integrated between the PeopleSoft PO Build and PO Dispatch processes.

The solution automated accounting classification and tax handling decisions based on enterprise-defined operational rules while significantly reducing manual review effort, operational inconsistency, and downstream accounting risk.

The initiative became so operationally successful that Goldman Sachs leadership ultimately required purchases to flow through the PeopleSoft Purchasing process rather than allowing direct Accounts Payable invoice processing outside purchasing governance controls.

Additional enhancements later incorporated highly specialized tax handling logic associated with negotiated New York and New Jersey tax incentives related to major corporate construction initiatives.

The platform also provided operational continuity and governance consistency during organizational consolidation and offshore operational transitions.

PeopleSoft Project Costing Implementation

Shortly after the Purchasing implementation, I was tasked with leading the operational rollout of enterprise budgeting and project cost tracking capabilities supporting Goldman Sachs’ large-scale global office construction initiatives across New York, New Jersey, London, and Tokyo.

After evaluating the operational landscape, I identified the PeopleSoft Project Costing module — previously licensed but unused within the organization — as the ideal operational platform for integrating budgeting, procurement, project tracking, and financial governance capabilities.

The initiative involved significant organizational challenges extending beyond technology implementation. Historically, Design & Construction and Technology organizations operated independently with inconsistent budgeting methodologies, fragmented operational coordination, and limited accountability visibility.

To address these issues, I designed collaborative operational workflows integrating Design & Construction and Technology budgeting processes while establishing standardized governance schedules, operational coordination frameworks, and enterprise budgeting procedures.

Within approximately three months, global Design & Construction operations successfully transitioned into the PeopleSoft Purchasing and Project Costing platforms.

Following stabilization of the initial implementation, I worked with Technology resources to develop an intranet-based enterprise budgeting platform supporting:

Over the following six years, I supported operational leadership activities associated with the budgeting and tracking of more than USD 3.6 billion related to construction and technology initiatives across multiple global office development programs.
